Eastern Beach Reserve
A Geelong family favourite since it was developed in the 1930s, the Eastern Beach Reserve features an enclosed shark-proof sea bath. Floating islands and a large diving tower are found within the area, which is patrolled by lifeguards in the summer months. National Wool Museum
Established in 1988 as part of Australia's bicentennial celebration, the National Wool Museum is located near the waterfront in a restored woolstore originally built in 1872. The museum uses displays, photographs and interactive programs to tell the story of wool, which played a crucial role in the economic development of Australia. For more information, click here.
Narana Aboriginal Cultural Museum
The Narana Cultural Museum offers an immersive introduction to the world's oldest living culture, that of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia. This award winning attraction is located in Grovedale, a southern suburb of Geelong. Narana means 'listening and learning", and the centre offers a full educational experience. Geelong Football Club
Geelong is home to the Geelong Football Club (known as the Cats) an Australian Rules Football team that plays in the sport's premier league, the AFL. Playing in the 40,000 seat GMHBA Stadium (Kardinia Park), the club is the second oldest in the AFL, having formed in 1859. For more information, visit the team's website by clicking here.
Deakin University
Deakin University, a regional post-secondary institution in Victoria, was born in Geelong in 1974. Geelong is home to two campuses of the University, one at Waurn Ponds (the original Deakin campus), and another at the Waterfront. Avalon Air Show
Held every two years, the Avalon Air Show is also known as the Australian International Air Show. It will be held March 25 to 28, 2025, and will feature an array of aircraft from Australia and other nations. It is advertised as the largest airshow in the Southern Hemisphere. The Flying Foxes of Eastern Park
A colony of grey-headed flying fox bats calls Geelong's Eastern Park home. These are among the largest bats in the world, and the colony numbers between a few hundred and 5,000 in the winter, and up to 15,000 in the summer. For more information, click here.
Museum of Play and Art
One of Australia's top children's attractions, the Museum of Play and Art features an array of immersive exhibits that entertain and educate kids.
